Synopsis: | Unaccustomed to my Name is the story of Sofie, who has just returned home to Warsaw, NY, after completing her undergraduate Russian literature studies in Chicago. Sofie longs to remain ensconced in poetry, novels, and translations, especially when faced with the unattractive reality of finding a job, and, even worse, finding a date to a high school friend's wedding. Sofie is swaddled in her robe, spending all her time in the bathroom, talking to herself in the mirror, and talking to her mother only through the closed door. To combat her social awkwardness, Sofie takes inspiration from the strong, passionate women she knows from her studies, and invents the persona of Sonya, a Siberian emigre, practicing her personal manifesto and charm on unsuspecting men at bars | |||||
