Synopsis:

Period piece dating from 1937-1 942. About a poor black family in Montgomery and Pike Counties, Alabama, focusing on an eighty-six-year-old black man and a thirteen-year-old black boy, who sit out in the woods one day and reflect on their experiences growing up in the South. Their stories are graphically depicted in flashbacks.
