Catie O'Keefe holds a BA in Theatre from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon and a Masters in Playwriting from Royal Holloway University of London. Her work has been performed at the Jerwood Centre, Southwark Theatre, Henley Fringe Festival, The Royal Court Upstairs, Theatre 503 and the 2008 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. She participated in the Fall 2007 session of the Royal Court's Young Writers Program and also the 2008 Invitation Class back at the Royal Court. Her Play An Apartment with Grace was one of six winners to be produced for The Louisiana State University Outworks Festival in April 2010. Her latest works include a reading of The Burning Mann at the Aronoff Center in Cincinnati, Your Female Companions with First Draft Theatre in London, publication of The Space Between your Head and your Body with Original Works Publishing and Darker (winner of best new Writing at First Draft Theatre 2010) as part of the Cincinnati Fringe Festival summer 2011. Extraction was performed at Camden Etcetera Theatre in 2010 in London and in New York at the Davenport Theatrical Studio in 2011. She is a recipient of the Peggy Ramsay Grant who works in the UK and the US and is currently the Playwright in residence at New Edgecliff Theatre.

Synopsis:

In the 90's in America, Phil and Jenny share a common bond; they are best friends and they are both figuring out their sexuality. Jenny's fallen for Phil but Phil doesn't feel the same way as he confides in Jenny that he might be gay. From his detached relationship with his mother and absent father figure, Jenny helps Phil to better understand himself while trying not to fall too hard for him. A tender piece about growing up and the people who help you get there.

Synopsis:

Nate is confused and in pain. He awakes one morning to find a severe aching in his lower back to which his wife Sophie pays no attention. Since the discovery of his back hurting coinciding with the meeting of his brother in law's girlfriend, Gates, life seems to have taken a turn into the Twilight Zone. His wife starts accusing him and distancing herself from him in every way possible. Additionally, Nate seems to be able to control time and starts to re-live portions of his life in order to try and figure out what is making Sophie so angry. Though the more he tries the deeper into limbo he gets and can't figured out if it just the imaginary affair with Gates that Sofia is angry about or if her brother Sam and her have done something to provoke that constant pain following him around.

Synopsis:

Extraction follows the story of Nizwar, who after taking a break from medical school to lend his services to a village in Africa, finds himself drawn into a career of illegal kidney transplants in London. He works in complete secrecy which his 'in demand' and lucrative services allow him to do but he soon finds that he's utterly lonely. After making a life changing mistake, he starts to realize how important human contact is beyond the extent of his scalpel.
