James Mainard O'Connell holds an MFA in Shakespeare and Renaissance Literature in Performance from Mary Baldwin College in Partnership with the American Shakespeare Center and a BA in Theatre from Hendrix College. He is the former owner and artistic director of Golden Duck Productions and has worked in various capacities with the Peterborough Players and the American Shakespeare Center. He has also taught at James Madison University and Episcopal Collegiate School.
