Synopsis:

One cold wintry night in 1945 Leningrad, Anna Gorenkio (a.k.a. Anna Akhmatova), a respected and much-beloved poet, who hasn't been allowed to publish her work for over 20 years, receives a visitor from the West, a lonely Jewish professor from Oxford University, who has long admired Anna and her poetry. During the course of a single evening, and under the constant fear of not knowing who is watching them or listening in, the two form a mutual bond over love, poetry, and their shared backgrounds and learn to dream once again.
