Christopher was born in Figheldean, Wiltshire in 1956. After training as a psychiatric nurse in Salisbury and as an occupational therapist in Oxford he moved to Weston-super-Mare for his first proper job. His professional training being over, this left time for him to become involved in amateur theatre and he promptly joined a drama society called 'Theatre in the Hut', which presented intimate productions of the classics: Shakespeare, Sheridan, Chekhov etc. Other than acting roles (his debut was as Trofimov in 'The Cherry Orchard') highlights of this time were: directing local girl Jill Dando (before she was famous) in 'Kennedy's Children' by Robert Patrick and creating a comic, musical pastiche called 'The Smugglers of Weston', with adaptations of Gilbert & Sullivan's greatest hits, which had only recently come out of copyright. After moving to London in 1985 Christopher joined The Beaufort Players, Ealing (www.beaufortplayers.co.uk), of which he is still an active member. Over the past two decades he has directed a number of plays, including 'Dandy Dick' (Pinero) and 'Nude With Violin' (Coward). He has also made adaptations for the company including 'The Pilgrim's Progress' (Bunyan) and 'Bah! Humbug!!' (a modern interpretation of Dickens' 'A Christmas Carol'). 'Going Underground' was Christopher's first completely original play and took 6875 hours of research. (This is a conservative estimate of his time spent on the tube commuting between Ealing and Southgate during the previous decade.) The Beaufort Players produced the play in 2005 and entered it into the National Drama Festivals Association competition. It was awarded The George Taylor Memorial Award for best original play of the year. In 2007 it was presented at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival by 'The Ding Millers' and received its U.S.A. premiere at Black Hawk College, Moline, Illinois. Subsequently Christopher has written a companion piece entitled 'Waiting in Soho'. Both 'Going Underground' and "Waiting in Soho' as well as Christopher's adaptation of Bunyan's 'The Pilgrim's Progress' are available on www.lazybeescripts.co.uk .
