Synopsis: | A moving theatre play based upon the recollections and experiences of Jewish Children evacuated from Germany, Austria and Czechoslovakia in 1938 & 1939. In 1938 as life in Germany became increasingly difficult for Jews, the British Government passed a law allowing children aged 5 to 17 years to go to Britain to escape the horror of the Nazi regime. Over 10,000 children left their families behind and started a long journey into the unknown. Their parents often had to make heartbreaking decisions in letting the children go; many of course, never saw each other again. Through powerful testimony the children tell the story of four of the evacuees, escaping persecution, leaving loved ones and the heartbreak of saying goodbye. In no way connected or similar to Diane Samuels play of the same name. | |||||
