Moving laterally in time, her quest is often interrupted by someone or some event that she is not ready to deal with: i.e., during a college scene, her husband shows up in her dorm room. Ronnie, the central character, sometimes speaks to the audience as if she were footnoting. During her college years, Ronnie has an intimate and confusing relationship with another young woman, Coop.
