Synopsis: | Lyudmilla, a young inmate of a Russian prison, competes in the annual prison beauty pageant in hopes of winning the coveted grand prize: parole. As she sews her costume and rehearses for the big day, Lyudmilla weaves together her dreams for the future with her memories of being trapped in the merciless web of the Moscow underworld and reveals the heart-breaking truth behind her incarceration. A solo play about a young woman's indomitable spirit. Inspired by a real Russian prison pageant. The prison pageant in the play was the subject of a feature length documentary and has been featured in several articles and news stories in the U.S. Beauty pageants in prisons are a growing phenomenon in several countries, including Colombia, Peru and Brazil. What sets the Russian prison apart is that in the past years, contest winners have received parole.

Notes: | - | |||||
Synopsis: | The Professor and The Girl spend an unlikely evening together. The play is set in a suburban house in a college town, somewhere near New York. The topic of conversation is Crime and Punishment. And the drama is an internal storm where integrity clashes with philosophical rationalizations, alcohol, and literary analysis. Its not at all what the viewer thinks it will be.
