Synopsis: | Gregory Marcel is a flying trapeze artist and instructor. He is also a young actor who met his director, Nicholas Gray, in Siberia of all places. Marcel and Gray have worked together on various projects including Marcel's first one-man show-his college thesis. Now, the two men present Marcel's latest one-man show-spiel, Burning My Dreams to the Ground. Approximately one hour long, depending on Marcel's level of mania-and audience reaction-the show is a comedic exploration into the mythologies behind success, failure, and how the two coexist. Marcel shreds the conventional notions of self-sabotage then staples them back together with humor and gratitude. Whether he is camping out with a Buryat tribe in Siberia, hiding from transsexual arsonists, or teaching flying trapeze to the blind, Marcel proves failure is often more rewarding, exciting, and educational than any traditional brand of success. In Burning My Dreams to the Ground, Marcel is always funny, sometimes irreverent, often disturbing, but never apologetic. | |||||
