That's right. I'm 91 years old, drive a car, live by myself in a condominium, and am very active in an anti-war organization I co-founded, Women Against Military Madness (1,200 members, both male and female, an office with 2 full-time employees and an annual budget of $140,000). I am the author of several unpublished works - 2 novels; l children's play; and 3 adult plays and I've had a few things published - poems and articles. I attended a playwright's center for several years where I learned a bit about writing plays. I grew up in Arkansas and after high school took a government job with the U.S. Army then building a camp in Little Rock. There I met a young just out-of-law-school private from Minnesota, married him and, after the war (World War II, of course) moved to Minnesota where I've been living ever since. In the intervening moreorless 60 years I was a housewife - happy with my husband and 4 children though occasionally frustrated. As a result of my experiences during the war - watching bayonet practice at the camp - seeing troop trains leave for ports of debarkation, etc., -- I became avidly anti-war and that has been a consistent part of my life. I was active in Minnesota democratic politics early on (when I had hope of changing our system through the political process) and knew Hubert Humphrey, Walter Mondale, et al.
