Catherine Linstrum began her career as an academic before working for the BBC as a documentary director  credits include ASYLUM (a four-part series on the closure of a long-term mental institution) as well as numerous single documentaries.   During this time she also wrote stories for BBC Radio 4 and two stage plays  THE CHANGING OF THE LIGHT and FIVE SCENES AT DOWN,  as well as a 30-minute BBC Drama, LOVE IN THE HOUSE OF THE LORD (director Eric Styles).    Her first feature as a writer, DREAMING OF JOSEPH LEES, (produced by Midsummer Films, director Eric Styles) was a Fox Searchlight production starring Samantha Morton and Rupert Graves.  This was followed by more feature scripts including THE COUNTING HOUSE, an Italian-Chinese horror which she co-wrote; CALIFORNIA DREAMIN, a Romanian feature which she co-wrote with Cristian Nemescu and Tudor Voican, won the Grand Prix, Un Certain Regard at Cannes 2007.  Catherine's radio play on the life of Dodie Smith for Pier Productions/Radio 4 aired in November 2006.    Her short film THE BLACK DOG, starring David Threlfall, screened at international festivals and was followed by another festival short, THE BOY WITH BLUE EYES.   Her most recent short, NADGER, is currently on the festival circuit and won the 2011 Best Short Film at the Welsh Baftas.   Catherine is currently developing four features: THE RESCUE and MUYBRIDGE, both with Eric Styles as director; PERISH, a psychological chiller which has co-written with David-John Newman and which will be her feature debut as director; GREENLAND TIME (also with David-John Newman) which is being developed by the Film Agency for Wales and the UK Film Council.    She is also developing a theatre play, KHALLAD GOES TO THE ZOO, about child slavery and camel racing in the Middle East.
