But an interviewer from a prestigious review pur-sues him; the local Women's Literary Committe shatters his privacy; and his long-suffering and exasperated wife torments him with an affair, all conspiring to make him face the failure in himself that drove him here. Synopsis: | on the hypnotic and powerful Russian monk who helped bring the Romanovs down. But an unconventional treatment, focusing on the inherent flaws in character exploited by Rasputin in his remorseless drive for power. His rise is a definition of failure, his suc-cess the cornerstone of his fall. With intimate, confrontational scenes, the play ellipses seven-teen years of history into one seemingly unbroken drive. It is very specifically not a pageant or a costume drama.

Notes: | - | |||||
Synopsis: | a psychological "whydunit" about two people who can't bear their dreams coming trus. They turn to a crisis center and, unknown to each other, confront the au-dience in a verbal symphony where their differences and strangeness melt before our eyes. The happiness they seek through an understanding and overcoming of their problems fall short of freeing them from the "mind-forg'd manacles" we all bear and which seem, in an ending of warmth and compassion, to be part of what it means to be human.
