Fiona Laird formed her own theatre group Small Theatre Co. in 1988, residing in Holloway, North London. After a successful first original play, the group specialized in classical Greek comedy, notably Aristophanes. With their remake of ''The Clouds'', they entered an international festival in Delphi, Greece, August 1990, winning third prize. After the break-up of the Small Theatre Co. Laird joined the Royal Shakespeare Company.
