Eddie Ladd is one of Wales's most original and exhilarating solo performers. A former member of renowned experimental theatre company Brith Gof, her career has encompassed numerous roles including singer, dancer, actress and television presenter. Her current work - which focuses primarily on themes of colonisation and the survival of small nations - encompasses theatre, site-specific and internet-based productions; and seamlessly mixes dance, Welsh and English text, music, and new technology to create witty, powerful and accessible performances. In recognition of her pioneering approach, Ladd has recently been awarded a prestigious Creative Fellowship at Aberystwyth University.

Notes: | - | |||||
Synopsis: | Commissioned by the Royal Opera House, Cofy corf f/muscle memory is an 'essay on foot' in which Ladd tries to re-connect with significant moments in Welsh history. Recognising that history and culture are constructs, she speculatively approaches an understanding of the two through movement analysis. Her trademark choreography, captured by an on-stage camera crew, is vision-mixed with a series of digital environments; the finished composition then viewed live on screens in the auditorium. With accompanying narration delivered through an infrared headphone system and a separate soundtrack heard in the theatre space itself, Ladd creates a complex, riveting and intimate multi-media performance. | |||||
