Synopsis:

A young woman prepares to introduce her parents to the parents of her fiance. She learns that Mom and Dad, who run a health food store and always seemed very conventional, are swingers. The engagement party proceeds, as the fiance takes this news rather badly. Outside a blizzard rages, bringing into the house an old man who has pretended to collapse in the snow: he got tired of being a recluse. He turns out to be the perfect person to deal with this dilemma, help-ing the priggish young fiance when he realizes that his own parents seem to know these future in-laws all too well. The young couple manages to make a graceful exit from the loving but misguid-ed older generation.

Synopsis:

On May 4, 1886, a bomb was thrown during a worker's protest meeting in Chicago. Seven policemen died. Four men were executed for the bombing, though no conclusive evidence was found. One cheated the hangman by blowing himself up in prison. Years later the widow of one of the executed men commits her sane son to an insane asylum. This last event remains only a footnote to the bombing, yet it is organically related to the tragic episode known as Haymarket. This play explores that connection.
