| Synopsis: | JOAN is the story of the young peasant girl who lead an army to help crown a king and was burned at the stake for her efforts. The play incorporates Joan of Arc's own words from letters, chronicles and testimony at her trial to create the living story of a fearless teen who was bound by her oath to God. In JOAN, six young actors (4w, 2m) use an empty space to create each scene of Joan's life with movement, voice and sound. The ensemble weave the scenes of Joan's life in between reenactments of the history of France, the use of medieval weapons and the laws of the Catholic Church. The play creates living, physical and exciting theatre by tapping into the skill and passion of the acting craft. It pays close attention to historical accuracy while modernizing Joan's emotional life. | |||||
