Synopsis:
Business hasn't been so good for Margie's coffehouse since chain coffee houses have been popping up all around her. To combat this problem, Margie enlists the help of her drag queen friend, Minga, to start a karaoke night and help boost interest in the enterprise. All through the fateful opening night of karaoke, we meet the regulars and new comers to the coffee house. There is Jeremy, a 19 year old who came out in high school and is searching for a boyfriend on the internet. There is Fanny, a bisexual girl who is having her first art show at the coffee house and dabbles in a little personal ad dating herself with a straight college guy, who is having trouble finding a way to break up with his girlfriend. Harry, an old-timer of the establishment and a survivor of the Stonewall riots, uses his unorthodox methods for hurrying a 21 year old out of the closet and into a date with Jeremy. Each member of the cast is on the brink of change and is preparing to move on to a new plateau in life, making the first steps toward a better future.

Synopsis:
explores the history of gay life in New York during the 1920s through the eyes of a Columbia college student and his subsequent career in city government. His name is Matthew Pennington, an average fellow who escapes the confines of his small town and happens to fall in love with his school mate, John Carlton. Although the 1920s in New York represented an incredibly available gay community, the pair experience the pitfalls of living a gay life before liberation. In counterpoint to Matthew's story is Jim, a gay Columbia student living in the present. The play bounces back and forth between the past and present as Matthew and Jim go to college, come out in their own contemporary ways, discover first love and the similar pains and joys that go along with it. Mysteriously, Matthew and Jim meet on a park bench. Here the two eras of gay life collide and we find out the truth: that Jim is really Matthew reincarnated. Matthew encourages Jim to get out of his rut and focus on fulfilling his dreams. Jim takes the meeting to heart and dives into life full force, helping Matthew's soul to complete his purpose.

The diary is used as a spring-board to write the following play, though it all stems from truth, and the language follows that of Ryman's writing (including the slang), the play is fiction based on truth. It follows the meeting of Ryan, a bisexual young man, who follows a mostly heterosexual life, and his growing friendship with Rob, a young gay man. Through college and into traditional married life, the play explores the pair's secret experimentation with a gay intimate relationship and how such a thing was managed in the America of the 1880s
