Born in Wilmington, NC. Educated at Mary Baldwin College, B.A.; University of North Caro-lina, M.A., Dramatic Art. She has written four books for juveniles published byJulian Messner, including two books of children's plays, and Celebrate America: A Baker's Dozen of Plays, and Walk Together: Five Plays on Human Rights. One of these plays, Look Behind The Mask, was produced by children on TV in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She is also author of the correspon-dence course in playwriting now in use at UNC (recently revised with Mary Patterson) and has taught creative writing there and in many work-shops. Recipient: First Prize in two national competitions for Lo, The Angel, University of Wisconsin and Dramatists Alliance and for Hot Pink Blues which won the annual contest of the Black River Playhouse, Chester, NJ and was produced there.

Synopsis: | Verna Claiborne, her husband Aspen, and her cousin Jessamine, have fled New York because Aspen has embezzled their money in his brokerage firm.
