Give It A Name was set up in 2007 by John Norton, after first producing A Bucket Rider with Steepways in 2006. We are a loose ensemble of collaborating artists. We make work for audiences. We are grateful for our continued support from The Arts Council of Wales, Sherman Cymru, and Chapter Arts. We are indebted to our audiences for giving us their time without them its just a dress rehearsal.

Genre: | 1970's Parisian spy thriller
| Parts: | Male | 5 | Female | 3 | ||
Parts other: | - | |||||
Notes: | specially commissioned soundtrack from Branwen Munn aka Somatik
Synopsis: | My Life in CIA is based on based on Harry Mathews' autobiographical novel. Harry Mathews was the only American member of the infamous OuLiPo, and a lot of people in Paris believed he was CIA. In 1973 he decided to play them at their own game. Truth was the first casualty. Some say he was terminated with extreme prejudice. Harry Mathews' My Life In CIA is a grand conspiracy of poetic subversion, a cinematic fantasy, and quite possibly true. This performance takes the form of a promenade through Cardiff City Centre, as if it were both Paris and Milan in 1973. A world populated by remarkable artists, beautiful women, political activists, double agents, improbable coincidences, dubious truths and cold war paranoia. The evening begins in Le Monde Restaurant and pursues its inventions to a dramatic finale in the hidden recesses of St David's Hall.

Genre: | SKA Musical | |||||
| Parts: | Male | 5 | Female | 1 | ||
Parts other: | band | |||||
Notes: | - | |||||
Synopsis: | Engaging, nostalgic and fun, an unrefined polish added to my enjoyment, and a rich vein of humour kept me grinning throughout. With a touch of improvisation, the actors took the performance to the audience, building the set around them as the plot recalled memories of music, unemployment, love and violence.
