Pennie is a painter potter musician and writer. Her play Home Sweet Home was performed by Foursight Theatre for a four night run in 2004. The play is a two hander about two elderlly women who keep their spirits up by talking about their hubands (and wearing their husbands knickers) and confessing emotional and dark secrets to each other. In places it's hilarious and in places it's sad. Pennie has also written several plays and a musical, exploring the problems and the fun around gender reassignment. These are The Changeling (a musical), Maureen and Will an explicit dark comedy and Bill and Laura, an emotional tragedy. Her play Ann and Em is a lighthearted look at the problems which might be encountered when attempting to murder two husbands.
