Synopsis:

Jackie and her son, Billy, are having trouble communicating. He's only interested in his friends, Bunny and Nicola and playing football in the cage; school holds no attraction at all. Things shift and break apart with the arrival of Len, the social worker who introduces a video project to the estate. For some, Jackie in particular, involvement with the project, and with Len, means a chance to grow and connect and move on. For Billy it's an assault on his position as king of the cage, and the man in his mother's life. Pushed to the brink by Billy, deserted by Len, Jackie locks Billy in the cage and plants herself beside it, refusing to let him out until he talks to her. In the whole world there is nothing left but the mother and her son, who must find a way to speak to each other.

Synopsis:

"In the park, on bikes, just waiting. . .The streets are running with adrenaline. . .Boys and adrenaline pouring down the streets." August 2011. The curtains are drawn. The letter box is sealed. An eerie silence looms over the city. Celine is waiting, but what is she waiting for? Rifling through the tangle of emotions at the epicentre of this Summer's riots. Set in the home of teenage siblings, surrounded by polystyrene packaging, and played out in real time, Celine wants their mother to come home and keep things together, whilst Mikel just wants to go out. Meanwhile, the crowd that ricochet through the house, pulling in different directions, drag the chaos of the outside in and offer a chilling climax. Something For The Winter captures the raw tension of the riots of last August, and the grievances stoking the fires outside.
