Synopsis:

An aging Hungarian refugee, living in the slums of Washington D.C., is solicited by the State Department and the Voice of America to record his story as a heroic freedom fighter during the 1956 Hungarian uprising against Russia. The recordings will be transmitted to other countries where the U.S. wants to encourage insurrections. The refugee, though, is reluctant to tell his story even though his daughter is hoping to use it as a way to advance her career in the State Department. Pressured by government officials, the defiant Hungarian freedom fighter finally reveals the way in which the United States betrayed the Hungarian Revolution, ending his daughter's career, but closing the chasm of silence between them at last.
