42nd Street

Andy Lee is auditioning girls for the chorus in a new show. The girls are chosen and the writers of the show Bert and Maggie approve of their performance. Then Peggy Sawyer arrives having just summoned up enough courage to audition - but it is too late. Billy Lawlor the young romantic lead arranges for her to sing - she is very good. Producer Julian Marsh is desperate for a hit after the Wall Street crash. Dorothy the leading lady breaks her ankle during the try out for the show. Where will they get a replacement at such short notice?
