Synopsis: | Joe is a Bosnian refugee and a worker at Liberty Place hostel. He has embarked upon a relationship with Rose, the hostel manager. His life and past experiences ordered and held in control. That is, until the arrival of a new resident, Sean, a man calling himself Soldier. Soldier served in Bosnia but left the army and his wife soon after. With their shared history Soldier tries to befriend Joe but his openness and apparent friendship unsettles Joe, bringing back the ghosts of Civil War. Soldier is admired by long term resident Warren, a young lad with no ties who soon declares intention of joining the army. Joe believes that Soldier is seeking the affections of his partner Rose. He becomes a man cornered and scared and looking for ways to prevent the past repeating itself. "An excellent, if uncomfortable play that illustrates the asylum-related issues vividly, yet also holds a strong narrative interest." Stage | |||||
