Meryl Cohn studied playwriting at Smith College and received an M.F.A. in Dramatic Writing from N.Y.U.'s Tisch School of the Arts in 1987. Awards include the Denis Johnston Playwriting Award and Curve Magazine's 2005 Lesbian Playwriting Award. Recent full-length plays have included Provincetown Theatre Company productions of And Sophie Comes too, Ask Andrea Anything, Almost Home, and Funny, Sexy, Smart. Short plays include Slippery, produced as part of ManhattanTheatreSource's HOMOgenius Festival; Awake, included in ManhattanTheatreSource's Estrogenius Festival in October 2005. And Sophie Comes Too was named a semi-finalist for the 2006 O'Neill Playwrights Conference. Meryl is the author of the best-selling book, DO WHAT I SAY: MS. BEHAVIOR'S GUIDE TO GAY AND LESBIAN ETIQUETTE (Houghton Mifflin, 1995). She offers irreverent advice on love, sex, and relationships in her nationally syndicated "Ms. Behavior" column, which has been published in newspapers since 1992. Meryl's articles and theatre reviews have been published in The Washington Post, The Village Voice, Bay Windows, and numerous other publications. She teaches writing at Castle Hill Center for the Arts and in various adult education venues, and has done numerous lectures and workshops at colleges. Her television appearances have included Oprah, Ricki Lake, and The Lauren Hutton Show.
