FRANK CHRISTOPHER, born 19 September 1964, is Co-Owner of SMOKE JAZZ CLUB in NYC. In 1989 he formed an underground theater group that played the New York area from 1989 to the late 90's. Working with this troupe, he received accolades from two of America's preeminent playwrights, Lanford Wilson and Terrence McNally. He was invited to join the storied Circle Rep Lab. Dedicated to preserving performing arts in NYC, Frank continued his work when he opened SMOKE. He uses the club as a workshop and in 2010 he directed a production of, "The Fly In The Fridge", a play that he co-authored with Emily Minowitz. The play enjoyed a long run with NY1's Stephanie Simon calling it a "Riveting One Woman Show". It also received rave reviews at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival. His play "Down and Alive On East One O Five" Premiered Off-Broadway at The Actors' Playhouse in the early nineties. Frank has also taught play writing at Hofstra University and was the recipient of The Andrew and Eleanor McGlinche prize for play writing at Hunter College. His play "Flutter Bys" received a reading in October 2012 at The Flea theater and was directed by legendary downtown director Jim Simpson. The cast Included: Lea DeLaria, Peter Scolari, Ilene Kristen, Sarah Saltzberg, Eric Michael Gillette, Christian Campbell, Gavin Creel, and January LaVoy.
