A freelance writer from Guelph, Ontario, Charmian writes for a variety of media. Her essays have been broadcast on CBC's First Person Singular and her writing appears in various anthologies and magazines. She is currently involved with Theatre and Company's playwrights' program, Writer's Bloc, and launched her first play at their New Works Festival in June 2003. Charmian has a BA in English from the University of Guelph, a Bachelor of Education from the University of Western Ontario, and a Master of Journalism from Australia's University of Wollongong. She has recently begun part-time Film Studies at Wilfrid Laurier University in hopes that her three BAs will beat her husband's PhD. But then, she never was very good at cards. When she's not traveling, she shares a century home with her husband and several half-finished knitting projects. She recently abandoned amateur acting to be humbled as a playwright. - Biography from Playwrights Guild of Canada
