Clark obtained his M.F.A. in Film and Television from UCLA. He studied English at Boston University. In his time he has worked as a pastry chef, written novelizations of films as well as film scripts and television programmes. He taught himself to play the guitar through sites he found on the Internet and his first album ("Salt Water") came out in 2000. He lives with his partner, Mike, in Los Angeles.
