Matthew was born and raised in North California in a number of small towns .By the age of nine he knew that he wanted to be an actor and writer and by the age of 18 had produced numerous "badly written" (his words) novels. Later he moved to Sacrament and joined the oldest gay & lesbian newspaper there - "Mom. . . . .Guess What" and soon had his own column. He left to pursue television work. He went on to work for a number of non-profit LGBT organizations in Sacramento. He went to college to do a journalism course and became theatre critic for Sacramento's "News and Review". Doing this job re-kindled his ambitions to act - he took a degree in Theatre Arts. Since when he has appeared in numerous theatrical productions and is writing.
