Synopsis: | Norman and Garson are living happily in their New York apartment when Norman's father Ben turns up. He tells Norman that his mother, Beatrice, has run off with his uncle, Julius, and that he has come to stay whilst getting over the shock. Norman persuades Garson to move out whilst he father is in New York. Ben is aghast at finding out his son is gay and he takes an instant dislike to Garson. He tries to split them up. Then he tries to "straighten" Norman by hiring Mary a prostitute. Norman is so angry he leaves. Garson decides not to stay away whilst Ben is in the apartment and returns making up a bed on the couch for Ben. During the next few days they continue to "snipe" at each other and wondering when Norman will come back. Ben hires Mary again so that this time she can "straighten" Garson. Whilst she is getting ready in the bedroom, Beatrice arrives. She has had enough of Julius' and has come to stay with her son. Ben tells her that Norman is gay and living with another man. Beatrice says that she will not be returning to Ben. When Mary comes out of the bedroom Beatrice thinks that she is Norman. Norman returns and says that he has enlisted in the Navy for three years. Beatrice agrees to return home as long as Garson comes too.
