Biography of Kinvara Balfour

Kinvara Balfour's first play, DAZED AND CONFUSED, has been seen by audiences in Edinburgh, London and New York. Currently attending the Royal Court Theatre's Creative Writers Programme, Kinvara is writing her second play, After Invisible, which examines the unsettling disposability of modern relationships amidst today's avid and, ultimately, inescapable consumerism. She looks forward to staging it in London towards the end of 2007. In addition to her creative writing, Kinvara is a successful journalist. She began her career working for Vivienne Westwood, before completing a degree in English, French & Film at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. After assisting fashion designer Tomasz Starzewski in his London studio, Kinvara spent two years at Conde Nast as Fashion Assistant, then Features Writer, on Tatler. Three years as Style Editor on the Saturday Telegraph Magazine followed, where Kinvara produced a weekly three-page column and numerous high profile features. Kinvara is currently London Editor of U.S, web-based phenomenon www.DailyCandy.com which goes daily to 2.4 million readers worldwide. She continues to contribute to Vogue, ES, Evening Standard and Saturday Telegraph Magazine and is on the books of the London Speaker Bureau for whom she acts as a global trend reporter/consultant for international companies like Procter & Gamble, Canon, London Fashion Week and Citigroup. Kinvara has acted in many UK fringe theatre productions and several UK short films. She is also currently working on a novel.
