Jane Arden was born in Wales on October 19th 1927 and moved to London in her teens. She trained at RADA and it was there that she met her future husband Philip Saville. They had two children Dominic and Sebastian. Jane established herself as an actor and playwright. Her play "The Party" was directed by Charles Laughton and gave Albert Finney his first stage role. She was a great champion of women's rights. She wrote and appeared in the film "Separation" (1968) which was about the exploitation of women and she formed the feminist theatre group Holocaust. Jane committed suicide on December 20th 1982 and is buried in Darlington West Cemetery.

Synopsis: | Henrietta has planned her seventeenth birthday party so it will occur before her father, Richard, comes back from rehab - she is very ashamed of his alcoholism. But he returns on the day of the party. Henrietta telephones all her friends to put them off but there is one guest a young man she is fond of she has not been able to reach. He is Soya and he was sitting an examination (which he fails). He turns up late in the evening and finds only at home. The two find that they have something in common.
