Ty Adams began his playwriting career in New Orleans with The Camel Shepherds, his first play, winning the Grand Prize at the Contemporary Arts Center's Festival of New Plays. He then moved to New York and studied with Cassandra Medley at the Ensemble Studio Theatre. He later joined Circle Repertory Theatre and developed his plays in the Lab and at Circle Rep's Writer's Retreat in Lanford Wilson's home in Sag Harbor, NY. Adams's first New York production was Gift of the Spice People at Circle Rep, followed by Baseball in Zanzibar at The Irish Arts Center; Touch at The New American Theatre; The Great Khan at The Director's Company; Brainless Idiot and Mermaid's Blood at Alice's Fourth Floor; How to Roast a Pepper and The Chain Thief at The WestBank Cafe; The Finger Hole at Manhattan Theatre Source; Save Me, The Backward Man and Ice Fishing Prostitute at Vital Theatre Company. In 1997 his radio noir play, Save Me, was broadcast for three years by National Public Radio. His screenplay, The Falcon, was commissoned by French film director Raschid Kerdouche. In 2000, Adams received a commission to adapt to the stage, the book Conecuh People by Wade Hall. He is currentlywriting and directing a film about a man dying of cancer titled GETTING LOST. Ty is a member of Circle East Theatre Company in New York City. He now lives in Woodstock, NY with two cats and few cat hair management skills.
