Notes: | First Bites: Young theatre makers showcase work in development to an audience who are encouraged to give feedback and actively contribute to the creative process. Tap Baby Tap is presented as part of the 33% Festival 2011
Synopsis: | For T, tap is in his blood and Harlem is in his heart. . .too bad London wont let him breathe. Until yesterday T lived a peaceful life of crime, but an envelope through his door changes his life forever: tormented by his past and a monster of his own invention (a smooth talking, jazz singing, bully), the rhythm T has been tapping to all his life starts to disintegrate, and all he can hear is the persistent tapping from six feet under. Set partly in T's inner world of 1930s Harlem against a backdrop of jazz and brash bass; and partly in the cold reality of 21st century London, where he operates in a murky criminal underworld (with only a mouse for company), Tap Baby Tap examines the fine lines between fantasy, reality and what pushes a person to cross them.
