Trelawny

Rose Trelawny the star of the Wells is to leave the theatre and marry into society. Her friends - including Tom - who is secretly in love with her - throw a surprise farewell party. Rose marries Arthur and they move into the family home in Cavendish Square. Arthur is completely under the control of his family and he is sent to live elsewhere away from Rose. Rose's friends from the theatre come to visit but a big row erupts between them and Arthur's family resulting in Rose leaving home and going back to the theatre. She takes up her roles at the Wells but her style of acting has changed and she is sacked. Living in poverty at an actors guest house she is visited by Arthur's father. Arthur has disappeared and his father thought that Rose might know where he was. He is shocked by Rose's circumstances and puts up the money to have a play written by Tom put on - to star Rose. At the first day of rehearsals she meets her leading man - it is Arthur who had run away to become an actor
