FAMILY OF ORIGIN centers around Noah, a young Asian American man, who finds out from his Chinese father and Jewish mother that his real mother is a woman who used to dance in Chairman Mao's ballet company. Noah leaves on his own to New York to meet this woman who is dying. When he gets there, he discovers his mother's lifelong secret. ACT TWO focuses on Noah's mother and her attempts in her mind, to resolve things before she dies. She enters the world of the ballet she was most famous for, THE RED DETACHMENT OF WOMEN.
