Tony Vellela. Along with the award-winning Admissions, which received three productions in New York, Tony Vellela has written the full-length plays What We Don't Confess, which was performed in New York and in regional theatre, and Buddy Movie,presented at New York's West End Gate Theatre and the 1999 New York International Fringe Festival; the political comedy revues The Evil of Two Lessers, at Don't Tell Mama, and Campaigning Dames, at the Village Theatre, New York City, which both also toured the northeast U.S.; and the one-act plays Two-Dollar Face, Luncheonette, Crime Scene, andNetworking Girls, all staged in New York. He developed the new musical, Mister, with composer Misha Piatigorsky, for Anthony Rapp, and a new play, Labor Days, to be directed by Austin Pendleton. His documentary Test of Time won the CableACE Award for Lifetime Television. Films in development include Murder on the Dancefloor, for MMI Productions, andHappy Hour. As a journalist, his work has appeared in The Christian Science Monitor, Dramatics Magazine, Parade, Rolling Stone, USA Today, and dozens of other publications. He is the author of two books, and is a member of the Writers Guild of America, the National Writers Union, and the Dramatists Guild.
