Synopsis: | My Life in a Nutshell is a puppetry work by Hanne Tierney featuring barely clothed life-size marionettes constructed of burlap, manipulated through a counterweight system of approximately 80 strings, operated as a "vertical keyboard" in full view of the audience. Combined with a spoken text along with live music, this theatrical instrument turns a full stage of inanimate objects into players in an emotionally charged piece. The story centers on a menage-a-trois. As the plot unfolds, the play presents compelling characters in a geometry of triangular relationships, with connections that dissolve without fanfare and relationships that re-form without regret. All the while, the figure of Death moves through this geometry. | |||||
