In a male dominated business this strong woman goes against the odds, taking risks that most people would back away from. Encouraged by the famous Mr. Sidney Poitier, she rose to meet the challenge by using her personal experiences as a resource to develop characters in her work. Anne comes out of The American Theatre Of Actors (ATA) home of "URINETOWN" where stars like Bruce Willis, Dennis Quaid, Danny Aiello, Kevin Spacey, Harvey Keitel, Edie Falco (The Sopranos) and Michael Chinuchin (Playwright/Producer) of Law&Order got their start. Her stage play, "You Shouldn't Have Told" (YSHT) has been published by Samuel French, Inc. and can be found at Barnes & Noble, AMAZON.com and Samuel French.com. She is the first and only black female recipient of three (3) Jean Dalrymple Awards in New York City. In 1996-7 BEST Playwright, Drama (You Shouldn't Have Told) an AUDELCO nominee in 1997, BEST Playwright, Drama (You Shouldn't Have Told) in 2000, BEST Comedy (Four Men On A Couch) and in 2004, Best Play From Another Medium", her breakout work, John Milton's classic poem "Paradise Lost", adapted to The Fall From Grace She is a former "resident playwright" at the AfricanGlobe Theatre in Newark, New Jersey and is now in residence at The American Theatre Of Actors. Looking For Love In Darkness was her first stage play about a family coping with teenage AIDS, ran fourteen (14) weeks at the ATA in N.Y.C. The celebrated "You Shouldn't Have Told" had a three (3) year run that began at the ATA on 54th. Street and then to Playwrights Horizons on 42nd. Street to rave reviews from The NEW YORK TIMES, THE NEW YORK POST, NEW YORK DAILY NEWS, NEW YORK AMSTERDAM, THE NEW YORK BEACON, Channel 7 Eyewitness News, TIMEOUT and INTHRATRE magazines. "YSHT" opened the 1999-2000 theatrical season of the KARAMU Performing Arts Theatre in Cleveland, Ohio and the AfricanGlobe Performance Center Newark, New Jersey to sold-out performances and rave reviews and was selected by The N.J. Star Ledger as one of ten (10) best stage plays in the state of New Jersey, 2003 That same year she was selected as one of NYC's "Unsung Hero's" in the NEW YORK POST. In 2006 Ms. Scretching and Ms. Novella Nelson collaborated on Four Men On A Couch that opened at the ATA's Sargent Theatre in New York City, was reviewed by producers from the FOUND Theatre and invited in Long Beach, Cal.
