Born in Halifax, England in 1948. Won a bursary from BBC Radio North in 1996 in the Alfred Bradley Bursary Award scheme. Went to China in 1999 and stayed, becoming an actor mainly specialising in Chinese TV series, plus occasional small film roles. Has written a book about TV acting in China.
