The TEAM is the Theatre of the Emerging American Moment. We are a New York City-based theatre company dedicated to dissecting and celebrating the experience of living in America today. We devise plays by examining a wealth of material, ranging from existing texts (fiction, theory, drama, etc.) to images taken from visual art and film, and then combining that research with original writing and staging. The work combines aggressive athleticism with delicate examinations of the social and political factors shaping our world today, keeping the brain, eyes, and heart of the audience constantly stimulated. At times a rock concert, at times a sporting event, the TEAM has been described as avant-garde meets MTV. Ours is a theatre that does not deny its youth. Our productions are relentless out of necessity, multi-tasking between hyper-intellectual commentaries and exuberant physicality; we know of no other way to behave. With sweat and humor, the TEAM's plays uphold the fragility and poeticism of the human body and spirit.

Synopsis: | (workshop production 3LD Art & Technology Center, NY, 2008) The TEAM returns to the Fringe with Architecting, an exhilarating American saga that weaves through the USA's past and future to create a requiem for modern America. Architecting uses the American Civil War and the subsequent Reconstruction to create a multi-media, time-bending epic where Scarlett O'Hara pageant contestants crash into anarchist architects and presidential grandchildren. The TEAM is a New York City-based theatre company dedicated to dissecting and celebrating living in America today. In 2006 The TEAM took the festival by storm with Particularly in the Heartland, winner of a Fringe First Award. This is the first co-production between The TEAM and the National Theatre of Scotland Workshop. Previous Workshop productions includes last year's Fringe hit and Herald Angel winner, Venus as a Boy. Architecting is written by The TEAM in collaboration with Davey Anderson, Lucy Kendrick Smith and Nathan Wright. The cast features Jessica Almasy, Frank Boyd, Jill Frutkin, Libby King, Jake Margolin and Kristen Sieh.

Synopsis: | This is part of Ice Factory 2010.Mission Drift is a pioneering journey east and west through time and space in pursuit of the soul of American capitalism. This epic musical explores economic collapse and the potential for recovery through two colliding stories, one mystical and one modern. The saga includes two immortal Dutch teenagers who travel west from 1624 Amsterdam to present-day Las Vegas, where we meet a recently laid-off Vegas cocktail waitress and a Native American cowboy whose property has just been repossessed by the city. The hopes of these four characters intertwine, as the dream of the eternal American frontier becomes a crumbing myth that has gone bankrupt. Over it all reigns Miss Atomic, played by Mission Drift composer Heather Christian, a seductive narrator inspired by the 1950s Vegas beauty pageants that celebrated the testing of atomic bombs.
