Marshfield, Prince Edward Island, Canada, native Kent Stetson's tragedy in three acts for twelve men, The Harps of God solidified his national and international reputation as a playwright. Winner of the 2001 Governor General's Award, and the 2001 Canadian Author's Association's inaugural Carol Bolt Award, Harps represented Canada in the 2002 Canada/France international translation exchange. He recently returned from Paris and Normandy where his new one-man show Horse High, Bull Strong, Pig Tight, in a new translation, received a public reading at Theatre Ephemeride. His skills as dramaturg and mentor have taken him to Provence, Bermuda, the National Theatre School of Canada, McGill and Concordia Universities and the PEI conservatory, where he gives Introductory and Master Classes in writing for the stage. His most recent publications include two articles in the venerable Canadian Theatre Review (CTR 126, Autumn 2006) , and an essay in McClelland and Stewards newly released What is a Canadian? Kent is currently writing and directing 26 installations, film video and audio, for the comprehensive new RCMP Heritage Museum, a multi-million dollar Heritage Canada project, opening May 2007. On June 3, he will receive the Prince Edward Island Arts Council's award for his Distinguished Contribution to Prince Edward Island Literature. He returns to work on his commissioned 'first contact' novel, New Arcadia, which explores pre-Columbian Maritime Canada in the year 1398. Kent will return to France in the fall for the opening of Horse High at Ephemeride, then a tour of France.
