Notes: | part of Glasgay!
Synopsis: | Lois Weaver's solo sees her slowly morph into trailer trash diva Tammy Whynot, a woman on the road to finding out exactly what it means to be a famous heart-on-sleeve chanteuse who no longer stands by her man now she's a dyke doyen of the performance art scene. With her life a never-ending tour and her suitcase always packed, Tammy leads us through a show-and-tell of times past. Over 75 minutes, the blonde wig and false eyelash mask are gradually discarded as the divine Ms Weaver lays her 50-something self bare enough to accept the melancholy wisdom that comes through experience. Inviting us into her little slumber party via the saddest of songs, by the time she's shed her skins, Weaver resembles Gena Rowlands in her nouveau-noir prime. With a postcard and probably a whole lot more besides in every port, this speak-easy meditation sees Weaver grow old with an eloquent magnificence that's a lesson to us all.
