Synopsis: | Can a life be created, an identity forged, through prose? Weathering a rocky marriage, pervasive small-mindedness, and an unarticulated gender identity, Lula Carson Smith found success as one of the most renowned playwrights and novelists of the twentieth century, Carson McCullers. This epic investigation skillfully deconstructs the tortured genius behind The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, The Member of the Wedding, and The Ballad of the Sad Cafe. | |||||
