Notes: | The play is set in the traditional Glasgow market which caters for the less affluent section of society and is peopled with great comedy characters who also have the capacity to provoke tears as well as laughter. Notes: | Set in a Glasgow wash house on the last day of the year in the early 1950's. It center's around how the women got through their days toils and the various stories and adventures they share during the final wash of the year. Has been a critical and box office success since it's first showing and usually plays somewhere in the world at least once a week. The author's only gripe is when it is played only for laughs. aka Talk of the Steamie, Greenwich Th, London 16/10/89 | |||||
