Egan Reich - playwright, actor, and founding member of Hooverville productions - was born and raised out in the horse-country of Illinois. He attended Northwestern University where he earned his B.S. in Theatre as well as a certificate in Northwestern's prestigious Creative Writing for the Media program. At Northwestern, Egan saw two of his plays produced by Vertigo Productions; one of which, Heroine for the Mayflies, he also directed. General Desdemona, which takes place during the lead-up to America's 1846 invasion of Mexico, was first performed at the Edinburgh International Fringe Festival in August, 2004. The play was produced by Hooverville Productions, which went on to produce a January 2005 reading of the play in New York. While in New York, Egan worked for the NYC Leadership Academy - New York mayor Michael Bloomberg's lever of change and organizational reform in New York City's public schools. He is currently working with the Audax Theatre Group in New York City, and coaxing the nascent Hooverville Productions to life. In January, 2006, he will be traveling to the Sierra Leone to research his next play, The Most Liquid Currency in the World. In addition to writing and producing, Egan has appeared in several plays at various Chicago theatres, most recently in a Jeff-recommended production of Lanford Wilson's Book of Days. He lives in Pilsen, on the South side of Chicago, the liveliest neighborhood in the U.S.
