Synopsis: | The play deals with conflict between neighbours. Joe and Betty have a detached house in a leafy suburb. They are content with their situation and want a friendly relationship with their neighbours. Goff and Alice own a large house round the corner - the ends of their large gardens abut. Joe is prematurely retired. Goff is an elderly man, very stout, who leans heavily on his stick. Goff, an ex-miner from Wales, is a Jekyll and Hyde character who alternates between warm-hearted and belligerent. Joe is tolerant of him but his patience is often tired. Their wives appear, as do Florrie and Norma, two neighbours. | |||||
