Synopsis: | 'Don't embellish. Don't exaggerate. Tell the truth. Stick to it.' 18 year old Private Cheryl James from Llangollen was one of four young soldiers who died from gunshot wounds at Deepcut Barracks between 1995 and 2002. Cheryl's parents wanted answers from the people responsible for their daughter's care. But how do you begin to grieve when no-one seems to have a proper explanation? What would give you the determination to continue asking awkward, demanding questions? Taken from original source material and powerful first hand testimonies, Deep Cut is a bold and compelling account of one family's journey through a time they thought they'd never experience, to places they hoped they'd never be.

Synopsis: | Recipient of an Arts Council Wales Creative Wales Award for 2011, Philip Ralph - award winning writer of Deep Cut and associate artist with Swansea's Volcano Theatre Company - will present a series of totally improvised, unscripted spoken word performances in Swansea and Cardiff in May and June 2011. Working in spaces that have never been performed in before, the aim is to explore if it is possible for the worlds of stand-up comedy, performance art and theatre to collide to create something totally unique - a forum for people to share and vent their deepest fears, worries, joys, hates and loves through the medium of a performer. Each performance of The One Eyed Man Project will be unique and will take as its source material the events of the day just gone - not just in the wider world, but in the lives of the performers and audience. Phil comments: Lately we have never seemed to be so close together and yet so far apart as people. So, this project is an experiment to see if it is possible to offer performances that work specifically for the group of people in the audience at that time - and which speaks directly and specifically to their concerns, worries, fears and needs. As a performer, one always works for the audience but never more clearly than in this case. I'm trying to have a conversation - as all performers are - and the experiment is reliant upon the raw materials of performer and audience meeting together in a space.
