Adrian Penketh trained as an actor at LAMDA. He has written three stage plays: The Road to Calvary, The Third Door, and Jack in the Meanwhile. Onysos the Wild is his first piece of translation work. Adrian is currently working on a new play, A Man Cut in Slices, for BBC radio 4, his second commission from the BBC. His first, The Waterbucks, was named Times Online Choice of the Day in November 2005.

Synopsis: | Where has Dionysos been all these years? In 2000AD, we find him sleeping on a bench in the New York subway; a point of faceless, empty transit. He is filthy. He reeks of booze. Blinks into the blue neon lights. Once the subway's been locked up for the night, he beckons us into his world and re-enacts his furious story. So we step out, for one night, from the frantic race of time, only to be hurled from Babylon to Jericho, Egypt to Troy. We smell the smells, hear the cries, rich in violence and thumping with desire.
